Garam Masala Recipe

Garam Masala is a rich Indian spice mix, where raw spices are well-bloomed and tossed till aromatic. These spices are then grinded by traditional pestle and mortar to make a fine powder.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbs Coriander seeds
  • 3 tbs Cumin seeds
  • ½ tbs Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tbs Ajowain caraway
  • 1 tbs Black Pepper
  • 6-7 pieces Black Cardamom
  • 5-6 pieces Anis Star
  • 1 tbs Cloves
  • 8-9 sticks Cinnamom
  • 2 balls Nutmeg
  • 7-8 leaves Bay Leaf
  • 10 pieces Green Cardamom
  • 2 tbs Fenugreek leaves (dried)
  • 1 tbs Ginger powder (dried)

Instructions
 

  • Collect all the spices and start dry roasting them. Be very cautious while roasting the spices, keep tossing them to avoid burning.
    Dry roast the spices just for 1-2 mins
  • Once all the spices are roasted, add them to a grinding pot and grind them well until its a fine powder.
    Voila!!! your spicy mix- Garam Masala is ready.

Notes

You can consider using traditional method to grind the spices for a more flavorful garam masala, i.e, by using pestle and mortar.
Store the garam masala in an air-tight container and it will last long.
Mind your hands while handling the garam masala, it may cause burning on skin or eyes.
